Forgot to mention, chaeto in a refugium works wonders too. I run mine opposite the display light schedule and it's like a phosphate sponge. Plus, free pods for the tank.

Man, my phosphates were wild until I started using PhosGuard in a media bag. Tossed it in the back chamber of my AIO and boom, problem solved. Just don't forget to replace it every month or it'll stop working.

Thanks for the link, really interesting read. I managed to get a few more shots with the tail almost fully flared, but as soon as I'm near him he starts swimming around like crazy. Guess I'll just have to keep trying to catch the perfect pic.

Identifying the tail type of my betta
Just got a new Betta, trying to figure out the type. Thinking it might be a halfmoon or rosetail, but not entirely sure. I've attached a picture, but unfortunately, I couldn't catch him with his tail fully flared.
