Availability can indeed vary based on location and what's brought into your area. Both pieces are quite nice, in my opinion.
I'm a big fan of Acans and lobos myself - they're some of my favorite corals. A lobo is still on my wishlist, though.

Re: Identifying the genus and common reef name of these acans
The purple and green corals appear to be Acanthastrea Lordhowensis, commonly referred to as "Acan Lords".
The orange ones seem to resemble Acanthastrea Bowerbanki, also known as "Acan Bowerbanki", or possibly Lobophyllia hemprichii, often called "lobo coral" or "Brain coral".

Re: My hammer coral is looking weird
Wall hammers - not exactly known for their longevity in aquariums. I've heard it's something like 80% of them don't make it.

Re: Acan tissue loss: causes and solutions
Have you checked your water parameters to ensure everything is in line? I've noticed my Acan corals are particularly sensitive to low Alkalinity and low Magnesium levels. With my large Derasa clam and recent Maxima addition, they're putting a strain on my parameters. After correcting the imbalance ...

Re: Lps corals requiring extra feeding
I also don't target feed my corals, and I've found that when my alkalinity levels drop, I start to see issues similar to what you're experiencing. With your 5-gallon weekly water changes, it's possible that your core parameters - calcium, alkalinity, and magnesium - aren't being replenished to NSW ...
