Re: Why discus fry die so fast?
I'd check the brine shrimp too. Are you hatching them yourself or buying? Store-bought can sometimes carry bacteria that fry can't handle. Also, try adding a bit of crushed flake for variety.

Re: Why is discus breathing heavy?
Could be stress from the Rams. Even if they've been together a while, sometimes fish just get weird with each other.

Re: is discus tank too crowded?
My 75 has 5 Discus, 10 Rummy Noses, and 4 Corys. Even that feels packed when they're all active. Your setup's doable but not ideal. Watch for stress bars on the Discus.

I just put mine wherever, but now I'm worried. Gonna move one to the other side. What's your water change routine?

Re: Discus tank water flow guide
Never thought about flow being an issue. My tank's small, 40 gallons, but I'll keep an eye on it. Thanks for the heads-up.

Re: Discus breeding tank size matters
Bare-bottom tanks are easier to clean, but I've seen breeders use thin sand. Just gotta siphon carefully. My pair spawned on a cone in a 40-gallon, temp at 86°F.

Re: why won't my discus pair bond?
I've heard discus can be picky about partners. Maybe they're just not into each other. Have you considered swapping one out for a different individual?

Re: discus bullying in small groups
I've got a similar setup, 75-gallon with 6 Discus. One was aggressive until I added more floating plants. Now they're all cool. Water changes every other day, 30%, seems to help too.

I had an experience with a Glass Cages tank at work that's relevant here. We had a six foot by two foot by two foot model with a built-in overflow, stand, and Lifeguard filtration system come up in a surplus auction. The winning bid was either $2.50 or $3.50 - I'm ...

I've got a couple of glass tanks that I'm quite fond of. One of them, my "show" tank, is a real gem - not entirely sure if it's an Oceanic, but I picked it up used and I just love the height. It's 48 inches long, 13 inches wide, and a nice 30 inches tall. If it were ...
