Re: damaged gill on my coral beauty
Thanks Ben, I've posted on there now and it seems like the problem is getting worse by the day, really hope I can sort this out soon.

Re: damaged gill on my coral beauty
Took a photo to my LFS and they reckon I need to add Melafix to the display tank, but I'm not too keen on that idea. Thinking of setting up a smaller tank instead and treating it in there - would that be the best way to go about it?

Re: damaged gill on my coral beauty
I'm still not seeing any improvement with my Coflake Beauty. The wound actually looks like it's gotten bigger, which is a bit concerning. It's as if it's stuck to the side of its face, like it's just sitting on the surface. I've managed to get a picture from the back, which shows the white bit ...

damaged gill on my coral beauty
I've had my Coflake Beauty for almost three weeks now and it's had this weird wound on the side of its head since day one. I remember it was fine at the LFS, but as soon as I got it home I noticed the damaged gill, so I'm guessing that's when it happened - probably got caught in the net.
The wound ...

Re: Chalice coral identification
Definitely agree on the ID. Hollywood Stunners grow crazy fast, should be frag-ready in a couple months.

Re: What constitutes rapid growth in corals
I recently dug up some old photos from when I upgraded to a 120 and went a bit crazy at a frag swap. I did a follow-up photo shoot a year later and plan on making it a yearly thing from now on. Some of the frags have blown up in size - I'm talking from thumbnail-sized to several inches across in ...

Re: will a flame angel harass lps corals?
My experience with flame angels has been pretty smooth. Had a few over the years, and they never bothered my corals. However, when it comes to other fish, especially new ones, it's been a different story - some were left alone, while others got picked on. Guess it really depends on the individual ...

Re: Using freshwater dips to control flatworms
I've done a freshwater dip on an elegance coral before, and it worked out just fine. The flatworms literally fell off as soon as the coral hit the fresh water. I used a small container, just held it up to the rim of the tank, and within 10 seconds the coral was back in the DT. It was surprisingly ...

Using freshwater dips to control flatworms
I've got a lovely Elegance Coral that's unfortunately got a bad case of flatworms. My green Coris Wrasse has been doing a great job of keeping them under control everywhere else in the tank, but for some reason, it just won't touch the ones on the Elegance. I'm really not a fan of using chemicals ...
