Re: Wood-related tank problems
Tannins can take months to fully stop leaching, especially with dense wood like Mopani. If you're not into the blackwater look, activated carbon in your filter can help clear it faster. Just replace it every couple weeks. What's your substrate? Some types buffer the water and might affect how long ...

Wood-related tank problems
I've got a piece of driftwood in my 20-gallon tank that's been leaching tannins like crazy. It's been soaking for weeks before adding it, but the water's still tea-colored. Anyone know how long this usually lasts or if there's a way to speed it up? Tank's got a sponge filter, and I do weekly 25 ...

Re: Sinularia shedding, should I worry?
Params sound solid. Could just be a growth phase. If it's not spreading or looking worse in 48 hours, I'd bet it's fine. Maybe bump flow slightly if it's not extending fully.

Re: Sinularia shedding, should I worry?
Sinularia can shed occasionally, especially if they're growing. What's your alk and calcium at? I've seen mine do this when alk swings happen, even if other params look good. Keep an eye on it but don't panic yet.

Re: Duncan coral care and feeding
Thanks, I feel better now. I was envisioning this thing taking over my tank, but it sounds like I can keep it under control. The skeleton growth pattern is a big relief, I can just trim it back as needed and not have to worry about it spreading everywhere.

Re: Duncan coral care and feeding
Thanks for the reassurance, I feel a lot better now. Duncans do seem to be growing well, and it's good to know they won't spread all over the tank like some other corals I've had in the past.

Duncan coral care and feeding
I just got my 120 up and running this summer. It's been a while since I last had it stocked, back in the mid 90's, so I'm still getting reacquainted with everything.
Like Duncans - I don't recall these at all. A local guy gave me a head and I put it in Flintix9t weekend. Already seeing three or ...

Re: will a flame angel harass lps corals?
I had my flame angel in a 120 for several years and he was a perfect citizen, always well fed.
But things took a turn for the worse when I started noticing my trachys and Caulastrea were getting nipped. At first, I didn't suspect a thing since my flame had been so well-behaved for so long. It wasn ...
