Re: have i potentially caused future issues?

Re: have i potentially caused future issues?
Yeah, the kenyi are for sure the trouble makers of this tank... and I can see why, they're already getting pretty big. The bigger of the two is about 2 inches now, and I'm a little worried about their growth. I've heard that even in a community tank, there's usually one fish that becomes the boss ...

Re: have i potentially caused future issues?
If you're determined to keep them, a month or two in the 29 gallon might work, but after that, you'll need to upgrade to at least a 55 gallon tank. These fish are ridiculously aggressive, and I'm not kidding when I say they consider murder a sport. I keep Mbuna myself, but in a much larger tank, and ...

Re: can you help identify my fish
I've been reading through the info and I'm a bit concerned about the diet. I've been feeding her brine shrimp and mysis shrimp, but I just read that I should be giving her more vegetation. I've heard that if I don't feed her the right foods, she can get Malawi bloat, which sounds really bad.

Re: can you help identify my fish
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that particular cichlid undergoes a color change as it matures.
Only the males change color as they enter adulthood. However, I've noticed a slight color difference between males and females even at this size - I'm guessing this fish is around an inch or ...

Re: Keeping angels with cichlids?
When considering mixed African tanks, incompatibilities can arise due to the varied nature of the fish. You might have haps or Mbunas, and sometimes even accidental cross-breeding from a show tank, making it challenging to predict their compatibility.

Re: Feeding african cichlids with goldfish food
What's in those goldfish pellets, anyway. Yellow labs, sunnygolds - whatever you want to call them - are herbivores, and they rarely sell the right food for them in stores. You'll probably have to order online for them. They're lake Malawi Mbunas, so a proper pellet should have spirulina and other ...
