They can handle 4 hours if the container is stable. Just don't leave them in there longer than necessary. Once you arrive, acclimate them slowly to the new tank water to avoid shock.

I've moved my betta a few times. The key is to keep them in a small, secure container with some of their tank water. A 1 gallon jar or a fish bag works. Keep the temperature stable, maybe use a heat pack if it's cold. Don't feed them the day before to reduce waste.

Hi @quillmaster, I've got a separate male and female betta, and in my opinion, your female is bloated. The treatment is pretty much the same as for males - you can try giving her some peas.


I think I've found the culprit - overeating when I feed the other fish. She can get pretty feisty about ...

I'm no expert on females, having only kept males in the past, so bear with me on this one - I'm having trouble figuring out if my female betta is bloated or egg-bound. There's a male in a separate tank about 10 feet away, I'm unsure if he's close enough to even trigger her condition from that ...

Is my betta suffering from ich or another illness?

I've been keeping an eye on him and just noticed these white patches on his Sprig - really hoping it's not ich. I haven't introduced any new fish to the tank, but I did move him to a different one that previously had healthy fish in it.
