Re: does popeye medication harm shrimp?

Yes it will kill shrimp if it says not to use it. The ingredients would be helpful to know, as that will give us a better idea of what we're dealing with.

Most often, Popeye isn't something that requires medication, as it's usually caused by an injury and poor water quality. In my experience ...

does popeye medication harm shrimp?

I'm in a bit of a bind with my betta's Popeye treatment. I'm doing frequent water changes, but I still need to medicate him. The thing is, I don't have a hospital tank and I've read that you shouldn't use this stuff in a tank with shrimp. I'm thinking of taking him out and treating him in a separate ...

Re: Is my betta showing signs of depression?

Water changes are crucial now, not tomorrow. Your betta's popeye indicates an infection in his sinus, which needs immediate attention. I hope you've been doing regular 25-30% water changes weekly - this is far more important than testing the water. In a 5-gallon tank like yours, pollutants can ...

Re: Is my betta showing signs of depression?

I think your water readings are actually okay, to be honest. Could be something else going on, though - he might have popeye, that's what it looks like to me. Would love to see some more photos of him, especially from the side and from above, if you can get those?

That's really helpful, thanks ...

Is my betta showing signs of depression?

Hi, I'm after some advice - my betta's been looking pretty down in the dumps lately. I've been slack with the water testing, to be honest, since I've never had issues with nitrates, nitrites or ammonia. But I just tested the water and I'm pretty sure the KH and GH are too high for him.

I was ...

Re: Creating a thriving aquarium floor

Honestly, I think the wood and rocks are overkill if you've got enough live plants providing shelter. The tank in the image doesn't seem to have the right plants for a betta, though - they need some floating plants and taller ones to rest at the surface.

In a heavily planted tank, you can't ...
