Re: clamped fins: what's the starting point?

It's gotten a bit worse since this morning, I just did a 25% water change to see if that would help.

clamped fins: what's the starting point?

Hey,
I've had my new double tail half moon betta in his 3.5gal tank for 4 days now, and I'm a bit worried. He's really active, but today I noticed the top of his double tail seems a bit clamped. The tank's got a heater, so the temp's around 77-78F, and I tested for ammonia this morning - 0ppm. The ...

Re: help with betta fish fin splitting

I've added 1.5 teaspoons of API aquarium salt to the tank, and when I do a water change, I replace the salt at a rate of 0.5 teaspoons per gallon. Since the tank is 3.5 gallons, I'm trying to keep the salt level consistent. I started the salt treatment on August 1st, so I'm getting a bit worried ...

Re: help with betta fish fin splitting

Hi again, I've got a bit of an update on my betta's condition. Unfortunately, his fins have taken a turn for the worse and lost a significant amount of tissue. I did try adding aquarium salt as suggested, but sadly, I haven't seen any improvement. On a positive note, the water is now clear and my ...

Hi and welcome to the forum.

I've taken a good look at your setup, and I think I see the issue - your water looks milky cloudy, which tells me your filter probably isn't established yet, and you've likely got an ammonia problem on your hands. This would explain the fin damage.

You'll want to do ...

help with betta fish fin splitting

Hi everyone,

I've had my betta for two weeks now, and I've noticed his fins are starting to split. He's in a 3.5gal filtered tank - no heater for now, but I'm planning to get one soon. Any Amazon recommendations would be great, thanks.

I've used bettafix for the past week, but I haven't seen any ...
