Re: Persistent parasitic infestation that won't go away

I've been dealing with a marine velvet outbreak in my '72 Marine display tank since mid-October. I let the tank run fallow, keeping everyone's hands out of it. There's a 20-gallon quarantine tank in the same room, about 6 feet away. I figured parasites aren't airborne, so that's not the issue ...

I had a similar issue, got a bit too enthusiastic with the trimming and now I'm left with a tiny bit of it trying to regrow. Be cautious, trim what's necessary but don't overdo it, you don't want to end up like me, trying to revive a small strand.

I ordered the Liquinox Iron and Zinc on Zorchzon instead. I also grow azaleas and hydrangeas, so even if it's not fish tank safe, it'll still come in handy. Returned the B1 supplement and they're supposed to reship the other one. Can you take a pic of your Liquinox label, @starlord?

I'm seeing crazy growth from my plants now, vibrant colors too. Alternanthera's turned a deeper red since I started dosing iron every other day. My swords are thriving, especially the Ozelot red - huge paddle leaves and all. Fish love swimming under and through them.

Don't believe the "Iron doesn ...

I'm getting iron at HD by the gallon, it's a specific type that's safe for my aquarium plants - don't recall exact name but I can check if you want.

Re: have you ever stopped to think about your tank?

I think you should send it to me and fix my tank instead.

The plants in the back are different species, but they're all the same height, which creates a uniform look that makes them seem like a wall behind the driftwood. It's accentuated by the even level of the shorter plants in front. To break ...

Re: Troubleshooting my duncan coral

Your dkh is a bit on the low side, I'd recommend aiming for 8.5 to 9. Also, check your magnesium levels, they should be between 1260 to 1350 ppm. As for your nitrates, they're at the upper limit, so you might want to keep an eye on that.
