Re: starting a marine aquarium: how hard is it?

I'd be willing to put in the time to research, but I'm wondering if that's enough to start a saltwater aquarium in a few months. I know they're more expensive, so I'd really appreciate some examples of what I'd be looking at in terms of cost, just to get an idea.

I think the best thing for you ...

Re: Flower pot coral placement

I'm glad to see the flowerpot's doing alright in its current spot. Low flow and sandbed seem to be working out, no shade needed. About 20% of the polyps are fully extended, the rest are at half. I figure it's still trailblazing, being a new addition and all, so I'm giving it time. Been target ...

Re: Flower pot coral placement

I've relocated it to the sandbed for the time being, with low flow as you suggested. I'm gonna give it some time, see how it adapts to its new spot.

Flower pot coral placement

I just got this sweet purple flower pot coral yesterday. The previous owner had it for a while and said it did well with high light and medium flow - he was using MH. It looked great when I picked it up, lots of extension.

The skeleton's about the size of a tennis ball.

I've been following his ...

Re: A concern about suicidal anemone

I've got a suicidal anemone on my hands. He's literally stuck himself to my submarine UV sterilizer twice already, and I've had to rip him off both times - it's like he's trying to torture himself. He's also managed to attach himself to the filter intake, and I'm seriously worried he won't survive ...

You might be able to get away with a single Valentini in a 140ltr tank, but most other puffers are gonna get pretty large.

Re: Hammer corals making a comeback

This is a great thread, I've been dealing with a similar issue - one of my hammer heads has been struggling for a month, it's almost fully receded. Everything else in the tank is doing fine, but this gives me some hope, maybe I just need to be more patient.

Re: seeking black and white dalmatian puffer fish

Hello,

I think it'll be either Arothron nigropunctatus or Arothron meleagris. I'd love to know where you can get one from, as I'm having no luck with my LFS. Got a tank ready for it?

Re: Is this growth on my hammer coral normal?

Appreciate the reassurance, thanks everyone. I'll grab some better pics once the lights are back on and hopefully we can get a more definitive ID.
