Re: A fan's passion for killifish

This is just fuel for my aquarium addiction. More tanks are calling my name now.

Re: Iron plays a similar role in low-tech societies as co2 does in high-tech ones.

I'm using Easy Green from Aquarium Co-Op twice a week as directed, plus SeaChem's Root Tabs and Eco-Complete as my substrate. I've also got 10-12 hours of light from my Finnex 24/7. I'm wondering if I'm already good to go or if adding some extra iron with API's Leaf Zone would be overkill. Any ...

Re: Are certain fish breeds more susceptible to swim bladder disease?

I've uploaded a video of the fish swimming, and it's the same behavior they always display.

I've been feeding them mostly dry food, but I've recently introduced live food into their diet, so I'll see if that makes any difference.

Are certain fish breeds more susceptible to swim bladder disease?

I'm experiencing a frustrating issue with diamond headed tetras. Over several months, they've been consistently falling ill, and it always ends in either their demise or a mercy kill. The rest of the tank's inhabitants seem fine, which is puzzling.

Re: Moving to a new home: tips and advice

Thanks Lexat, we're absolutely loving the new place, it's definitely making the move stress a bit easier to deal with. Although, our new neighbour did try to put a bit of a damper on things by yelling at us for parking outside our own home - on the second day, no less. Apparently, our car was making ...

Re: Moving to a new home: tips and advice

Thanks for the advice, I've taken your tip and dimmed the lights - seems to be doing the trick, they're gradually regaining their colour, starting from the tail end, slowly but surely turning brown again.

Moving to a new home: tips and advice

We recently moved house and decided to hire someone to do it for us, mainly because I have MS and my hubby broke his hand - what a joke. They completely misjudged the house and its contents, not allowing enough time for packing, and didn't hire big enough vans. As a result, we left our old house at ...

Getting rid of unwanted surface plants

I've got this tiny surface plant that came in on a fish about seven years ago. It's got leaves around 1-2mm in diameter and it just won't quit. I've tried to manually remove it, but it grows back way too fast - if I'm not careful, it'll be a centimeter deep on the water's surface in no time. I'd ...

Re: best places to buy aquarium plants

I've had a great experience with Aqua Essentials, never had a bad plant from them. Their plants are generally quite large, which is perfect as I can split them in the tank to get a fuller look. I did this in my old tank and the results were great, even the moss was looking good after just a few ...
