Re: Is contaminated fish water making dogs sick?
I've seen cases where contaminated water can make animals sick, but it's usually from external factors like medications, bacteria, or heavy metals getting into the water. Cholera, Giardia, or E. coli can be present if someone with these diseases isn't following proper hygiene around the tank ...

Re: Is contaminated fish water making dogs sick?
I'd be surprised if the fish tank water was the culprit, unless maybe some meds are being added to it. Dogs aren't exactly known for being picky about what they drink or eat - I mean, they'll lap up water from a puddle or gobble up whatever's on the floor. So, I'm skeptical that fish water would ...

Is contaminated fish water making dogs sick?
I've seen this topic come up before, and the general consensus is that fish water is safe for human consumption. My situation's a bit different, though - my roommate's dog got into my fish water buckets multiple times, and now the dog's got diarrhea. My roommate's blaming my water, but I'm not ...

Re: Are mites a problem in betta tanks?
That's weird, I don't overfeed my Bettas, just 5 Betta Bits a day, that's it. I'm stumped on how I got them. My hospital tanks are completely empty, no fish at all. Only live plants I have are those Moss Balls, which they seemed to love.

Re: Are mites a problem in betta tanks?
My Betta didn't seem to care about them at all. I didn't see any on the fish themselves, which was weird. The ones in the Betta tank were everywhere, though - tons of them. They even covered my moss balls, it was crazy.

Re: Are mites a problem in betta tanks?
They're still zipping around in my hospital tanks. My pLione camera's having a tough time focusing on them, but I gave it a shot. I've added arrows to the slightly bigger ones, and circled the really tiny ones.

Re: Are mites a problem in betta tanks?
No, they weren't like that at all - completely round, I mean. My boyfriend found a bigger one on top of the Betta tank, killed it. Said it was a little round bug too. They moved super fast in the water, zipping around everywhere. When I added the bleach, they went crazy, swimming in rapid circles.

Are mites a problem in betta tanks?
Hi all, hope I'm posting in the right spot. I've got a Betta setup with private sections connected by bridging, and I recently encountered a weird issue. When I went to clean the tank day before yesterday, I was shocked to see thousands of tiny bugs swimming everywhere. No new additions to the tank ...

Re: affordable substrates for large areas
Thanks for the suggestions, I really appreciate it. I'm on a tight budget, so I was wondering if you have any idea how much pea gravel or play sand would cost in bulk? I need to cover at least 50 cubic feet and stay under $100.
