Re: new to the community and seeking assistance

Not entirely sold on that stock list, if I'm being honest. You've got a mix of Haps, Peacocks, Dwarf Mbuna, and a Tang - it's a bit of a lake mashup, which isn't really my thing.

The Fryeri can be a right handful, especially when it comes to Aulonocara males - they've been known to get a bit ...

Re: why is my rotala losing leaves?

Another thought: how often are you trimming the Rotala? If it's getting too tall, the lower leaves might be shaded out and dying off. Regular trimming can help keep it bushy and healthy.

Yeah, I trim mine every couple weeks. If you let it go too long, the bottom leaves just give up. It's like a ...

Re: why is my rotala losing leaves?

Could also be a CO2 thing. Rotala loves CO2. If you're not injecting, it might just be struggling. I started dosing liquid carbon, and mine perked up. Not as good as real CO2, but it's something.

Re: information about malawi

I've got a Trigon 190 Malawi Mbuna setup and it's one of my favorites, the corner design is really useful for creating interesting layouts with ocean rock - my fish love swimming in and out of the nooks and crannies. Depending on the filtration system and water change schedule, I don't think 30 fish ...

Re: ndumbi holding issues - seeking advice

If she's in the early stages, I think she's fine where she is, no need to move her just yet. The other fish in that tank are used to her, they'll leave her be. Putting her in a new tank with new tank mates could be a recipe for disaster, she'll get stressed and pestered. I'm not a fan of breeding ...

Re: ndumbi holding issues - seeking advice

Hey dougmac, your female ndumbi red top is probably holding eggs, which is a normal process. This usually takes around a month before they become free-swimming fry.

You might notice she segregates herself, stops eating, but don't worry, this is all part of the process. Now, you've got a few ...

Re: hello, i'm new here

If the tank's cycled, that's awesome. No worries on the assumption, I know I've been all over the place. Good luck with your setup, I'm still figuring mine out, but loving the North African vibe so far.

Re: hello, i'm new here

Honestly, I think there's been a mix-up with your yellow lab - the one in the photos looks more like a red zebra to me. If the other one's the same, it's no wonder they fought after being stuck in the same bag for a while.

From what I've seen in your other thread, it seems like you're in the middle ...

Re: Will duncan's corals sting these?

Honestly, I'm not familiar with how a clam would interact. That being said, I have witnessed one of my duncans take a sweeper off a torch, and that torch has a pretty harsh sting - it's not a coral I'd want to mess with.

Re: regal yellow peacock

Sorry but I don't think your current stock is suitable for a yellow regal peacock - need to consider water parameters as well as tank mates.
