Most vibrant Zoanthid varieties

What are the most vibrant Zoanthid varieties you've kept or seen in person? I'm setting up a new 40-gallon reef and want something eye-catching under my AI Prime HD. Looking for names like Rasta, Utter Chaos, or similar.

Re: Betta fish and tank backgrounds

I've used both black and blue backgrounds in my tanks. The black can make colors pop, but some fish do seem to prefer lighter shades. Maybe try a light blue or frosted one to see if your betta chills out more.

I agree with this. My betta was way more active after I switched to a light blue ...

Re: Betta fish and tank backgrounds

From a technical standpoint, bettas can be sensitive to high contrast. A dark background might make them feel exposed if the tank lighting is bright. I'd recommend a mid-tone background and see if that reduces stress. Also, check your water params just in case, since stress can come from multiple ...

Re: One krib or two: the great debate

I'd lean towards exercising caution, my tendency is to err on the side of understocking after all. Adding Kribs would certainly tip the balance in favor of bottom-dwellers, considering the gobies already present.

If you're looking to introduce more movement, have you considered expanding the ...

Re: my cichlids seem dull, what can i do?

I think Moby said it best, your setup's come a long way. I've got no issue with plastic ornaments personally, but I can see why they wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea. Those sharp edges, though, would've been a problem waiting to happen.

You've actually got a powerhead in your tank already - it's ...

Good point. Also, avoid burying the rhizome when attaching Anubias or Java Fern to driftwood or rocks. Burying it can cause rot and halt growth entirely.

Re: why won't my plants grow faster?

Anubias and Java Fern are slow growers by nature, but let's troubleshoot. What's your photoperiod? Are you dosing any liquid fertilizers? Also, check if your light's PAR rating is sufficient for these plants.

Re: discussing fish

It really comes down to personal preference, your initial plans, and the specifics of your setup. Some people have a clear vision for their tank, whether it's centered around a particular fish or a unique feature, and that dictates their stocking choices and environment. The possibilities for a 30 ...

Re: Is this sand safe for my aquarium?

The advice on the package is legit, it's all about being careful with the dust. Not a huge deal, but still worth considering. It's similar to wearing dust masks and eye protection when doing any dusty job - up to you, but recommended. If you've got the stuff, I wouldn't worry about it in the tank ...

Re: is this a tilapia?

Thanks Dr Rob, I was leaning towards Redbelly tilapia T. zilii, but I appreciate your input. I've got a question about the tail spots - do all tilapia develop those, or is it specific to certain species? And if so, do the juveniles typically have them, or is that something that comes later as they ...
