Re: Is it worth the investment?

I don't have a big tank, but my friend does. Her fish look amazing, and the plants are huge. Maybe it's worth saving up for.

Re: Heater and water change advice needed

When I do water changes, I make sure the replacement water is pretty close to the temp it was before I took the fish out - a few degrees cooler is no big deal, but I try to avoid making it warmer than it was before.

Re: Heater and water change advice needed

I've found a simple solution for my smaller tanks - a heating pad does the trick. It's consistent and doesn't fluctuate, which is just what I need. Plus, it's super affordable. I've noticed the fish seem to enjoy lounging on the bottom from time to time, where it's nice and warm. I've added some low ...

Re: Ideal phosphate levels for corals

I'm new to this, but my LFS told me to aim for 0.05 ppm. Is that too low for soft corals? I've got a 20-gallon with zoas and mushrooms, no skimmer yet.

Re: algae takeover in coral tank help

My tank's small, 20 gallons, but adding a sea hare cleared my algae in days. They're kinda sketchy though, might munch your macros if you have any.

Re: How much would you spend on a betta?

I've gone over $70 on a single fish when you factor in shipping. It really comes down to how much disposable cash I have at the time, and if there's something else I'd rather spend my money on. If I want it bad enough and my bills are paid, I'm gonna splurge. Money's just money, and we're all gonna ...

Re: breeding betta fish without a heater

I'd say you'd notice a pretty big change in your betta's personality if you bumped the temperature up to around 80 degrees. Baby fish, like most young animals, tend to require warmer temperatures than adults anyway.

Honestly, I'm not sure that'd work out, Fluxx. Would you even want to try?

Re: Does your betta fish display aggression towards you?

I've got 10 bettas and none of them have ever flared up at me, which I find kinda funny.

They all go crazy when they see the food bag, and I've got a few that remind me of cocker spaniels - they get so excited, shaking their little bodies like they're doing some sort of fishy dance.

All of them ...

Re: betta care: advice on salt baths

I've been doing mine once a day for 30 minutes - just 'cause my schedule's tight. Still seems to be doing the trick. If Seth's got ick, you'll need to treat his tank water too, or the ick'll just come back.
