I've gone over $70 on a single fish when you factor in shipping. It really comes down to how much disposable cash I have at the time, and if there's something else I'd rather spend my money on. I'd say you'd notice a pretty big change in your betta's personality if you bumped the temperature up to around 80 degrees. Baby fish, like most young animals, tend to require warmer temperatures than adults anyway.

I've got 10 bettas and none of them have ever flared up at me, which I find kinda funny.

They all go crazy when they see the food bag, and I've got a few that remind me of cocker spaniels - they get so excited, shaking their little bodies like they're doing some sort of fishy dance.

I've been doing mine once a day for 30 minutes - just 'cause my schedule's tight. Still seems to be doing the trick. If Seth's got ick, you'll need to treat his tank water too, or the ick'll just come back.

No worries at all. I just use a simple plastic spoon, scoop it into the salt, and make sure it's just slightly rounded with salt - not too much, not too little.

For a salt bath, I'd say go with 1 tablespoon per gallon of water - that way, you can leave Seth in for as long as needed. Now, if you want to do a salt dip, it's a different story - 4 tablespoons per gallon, but only for up to 30 minutes, and keep a super close eye on him, if he starts to struggle ...
