Re: have you ever stopped to think about your tank?

The tank really does look great, everyone's right about that. What I think I'd do differently, if I'm being honest, is maybe remove some of the driftwood. It's a bit distracting from the rest of the plants, which are really thriving. Overall, though, it's a great setup - good job.

Re: Getting started with a walstad aquarium

Walstad tanks are truly wonderful if you do them right. I highly recommend reading Diana Walstad's book, Ecology and the Planted Aquarium - it's a game-changer. As a microbiologist, she brings a unique perspective to aquarium-keeping. I've found her method fascinating, although I admit it reads ...

Re: Getting rid of unwanted moss

I'm curious, what kind of moss are you trying to grow? Is it Java moss, or something else entirely?

Re: ferns of borneo

I've found a helpful resource for you - www.anotherworldterraria.com has some great info on Cephalomanes javanicum. Given its condition, I suspect it was previously grown submerged, and you've fortunately rescued it. As you're aware, it's not fully aquatic, and I'm still surprised by how often ...

Re: Why are my plants turning white?

The Java fern on the right seems fine to me. I'd double-check that all your plants are actually aquatic, as they might have been grown above water at the nursery, which is pretty common. Like @Colin-T said, they could be adjusting now that they're submerged.

Re: Finding water information on your supplier's website: gh/kh and more

Hi @geeky, I've found that getting in touch with the water company directly yields the best results. Try to find the person responsible for drawing and treating the water - they often have a chemistry background and can be a wealth of information. I once met a guy who was thrilled someone was ...

Re: Keeping snails safe under gravel

I'm no expert on the type of snail you've got, but in my experience, most snails seem to handle being buried just fine. Pond snails, for example, are always burrowing into the gravel or substrate.

Re: Is a diet of frozen mysis shrimp sufficient for a blind betta?

Your betta is one fortunate fish. I'd stick with the hand feeding method you've got going on, it's clear you're putting in the effort to make sure he's comfortable and well cared for.

Re: Why is my amazon sword plant turning yellow after a week?

Glad to hear that, your aquarium looks great. The plants just need a bit of time to adjust to their new surroundings.

Re: Why is my amazon sword plant turning yellow after a week?

The yellow leaves won't regain their green color, so it's best to trim them off at the base using sharp scissors. I couldn't quite make out from your image, but just to reiterate, the crown of the plant should be exposed. A simple trick is to use a clean turkey baster to gently blow away the ...
