Yeah, overfeeding's a biggie. I feed mine 3-4 pellets twice a day, skip a day weekly. They're chillin'. You got a pic of your setup?

Liquid tests are indeed more reliable. For a 5-gallon tank, weekly 20% water changes are ideal. Ensure you're using a water conditioner like Seachem Prime to neutralize chlorine. What's your current ammonia reading?

Yep, strips are a no-go. API kit's the way. Also, keep an eye on your fish's behavior. If they're gasping or lethargic, something's off. You got any plants in there?

Mine are under T5s, not super bright, and they're thriving. Colors are vibrant, and they've even spread a bit. Maybe it's more about consistency than intensity. What's your photoperiod like?
