Re: setting up a fish-only aquarium: a beginner's guide

I'm basically starting from scratch here, so I'd really appreciate it if ...

Re: setting up a fish-only aquarium: a beginner's guide
Hey...
Thanks a lot..... I'm starting to get it, but there's still so much I don't know. I think I understand what you're saying about the filter - it's going to produce a lot of nitrates, right? I've got this weird filter system, it's glued to the inside of the tank with silicone, I guess it's ...

Re: Duncan coral care and advice
My duncan has been growing steadily, doubling in size roughly every 6 months. I've got it on the sand bed and under radion pros - seems to work well for it. I feed it krill tails twice a week, also got anemones in the tank. Flow is a must for mine, it loves it. Only time it's ever closed up is when ...

Re: Troubles with hammer and torch coral extensions
IME, my LPS corals don't open fully when they need more flow or the parameters are a bit off. What's the flow like under that column? Also, how long has it been since you changed your lighting setup? I'd bring down that alk level, even if it matches your LFS - it's on the higher end.

Re: Frogspawn coral care and flow requirements
Agreed, low flow's the way to go till it's fully healed. Once it's back to normal, you can bump it up to medium. Good luck with the recovery, hopefully it'll get back to its best expansion soon.

Re: shading on lower branches of lps corals
Anything with a branching pattern will inevitably lead to shading in certain areas. I've personally experienced this with bflintix9tos, where the growth has resulted in self-shading. That's when you know it's time to start fragging the parts that might not make it anyway. This approach can be ...
