Re: Kribs' behavior has changed
I've taken the plunge and moved the Kribs to a 90 Litre tank, as suggested, with 5 Danios as dither fish to keep them company. I made sure to transfer their coconut shell too, but when I inspected it, I noticed the eggs were no longer stuck to the inside roof - they were definitely there when I ...

Re: Kribs' behavior has changed
Your explanation makes sense in retrospect, as they were always out and about before the move, with the male keeping watch and chasing off any intruders. The female would also join in, sending other fish packing. I had them with Corys, Tetras, and a couple of smaller Kribs that got bullied away.

Kribs' behavior has changed
I've got a breeding pair of Kribs that were initially in a community tank. They spawned and I managed to rescue 8 fry, relocating them to a separate small tank. The breeding pair then joined their coconut shell, now home to over 30 eggs, in another small tank.

Re: can kribs spawn again with fry?
I asked the same question at the LFS today and the guy there said they can spawn again even after having new fry. He mentioned they'll actually spawn a lot, but warned that after around the 4th time the female will be really exhausted. I'm wondering, is that when it's best to separate them?

can kribs spawn again with fry?
I've got a breeding pair of Kribs that spawned around 4-5 days ago, and now the female's belly looks really swollen and bright red again. Every time the male approaches, she curls up and he gets a bit aggressive, flaring his fins. Is it possible they'd spawn again so soon, or am I just seeing things?

Re: A female krib discussion
One of the missing Danio's turned up, no idea where it was hiding, and I found the other one stuck behind the filter. Possibly it was trying to get to the Krib's fry, they were pretty close by, or maybe it was just being nosy. Moved the filter and it swam out, so all accounted for now, but I'm ...

Re: A female krib discussion
Now I'm in the middle of a mystery - my breeding pair of Kribs have spawned and got fry, and I've also got 5 Danio and a lone Hatchet fish as dithers in the tank. I just checked on them and saw the Kribs out with the young, but then I noticed only 3 Danio and the Hatchet - no sign of the other 2 ...

Re: A female krib discussion
Just had a look and I couldn't see the Kribs at first, then I spotted the female just under a piece of wood, she was really still. I saw the male close by, turned away at first but then I thought, 'Wait a minute...' Yep, she's got a brood of fry swimming around under her.

Re: A female krib discussion
Hi Cathy, off topic, I've had bikes most of my life, been a passion of mine. On topic, I actually considered getting another male today, but a couple things held me back. Firstly, the LFS had three pairs of kribs and a bunch of females, and I didn't want to break up any of the pairs. Secondly, if I ...

Re: A female krib discussion
I had a thought about my females after I moved the breeding pair out - the larger one, her belly started to turn red, it was really pale before, but it changed after just a day or so, I'm not sure if that means anything. The smaller female, her belly is still pale, so I'm wondering if that means she ...
