Re: Observations of kribensis mating behavior
Yeah, it's all trial and error with these things. You gonna give it another shot and get another pair? I've got a pair that's just starting to show some promise, she's been working on the coconut cave and it's actually looking pretty neat - there's a little pile of sand outside the entrance, so ...

Re: Observations of kribensis mating behavior
They seem female to me, the round pink bellies are a giveaway. Males wouldn't have that, and usually you can tell by the dorsal fin too, but it's hard to see in these photos.

Re: care and feeding of the red kribensis
You might want to try reaching out to Peter Clarke on this forum, he may be able to help you source the super red kribensis you're looking for. He's currently selling some beautiful pelvicachromis in the classifieds, I came across his post recently. The username is something with Peter Clarke in it ...

Looks like we're on the same page. Do you have any pictures of your Ocellated kribs? Were they from Peter Clarke, or was that just the Nigerkento4s?

Re: other ideas to consider
I think 12 is a good number too, I've always found that 6 just doesn't cut it, it's not really a school to me.

Re: other ideas to consider
I'm worried that smaller fish could get picked off by the kribs in a 3ft tank, especially with two potential breeding pairs. You'd probably be left with a small area in the middle where the other fish could swim without being harassed.

Re: other ideas to consider
A chunky school of fish could definitely liven up your tank. I've personally kept tigers with my kribs and it's worked out well, but you've got to consider the risk of the eggs and fry being eaten - most fish find them quite tasty.

Re: Does kribs spawn sound familiar to you?
Do you usually keep the lights on at night anyway, or is this something you've been doing just for the kribs?
