Re: my coral is turning brown, why?
Brown usually means zooxanthellae overproduction, often from low light or high nutrients. You said nitrates are 5, but phosphates could be the culprit. Test those. Also, how old are your bulbs? LEDs degrade over time, might not be pushing enough PAR anymore.
Yep, second this. My SPS did the ...

Re: why are my vallisneria leaves browning?
Good point about algae. Also, make sure your tank's not too warm. Vallisneria prefers cooler temps, around 72–78°F. If it's higher, that could contribute to the issue.
Yeah, temp's another thing to watch. My tank runs at 75°F, and the Vallisneria's happy as can be. Also, avoid sudden temp ...

Re: why are my vallisneria leaves browning?
I'd second the nutrient and light suggestions. Vallisneria is pretty hardy but can be picky about conditions. Are you doing regular water changes? Sometimes buildup of organics can cause issues even if ammonia and nitrite are zero.
Yeah, water changes are key. I do 25% weekly, and my ...

Re: Keeping a subwassertang with snails
I adore my snails, they're a natural part of the aquatic ecosystem. I've got pond snails and malaysian trumpet snails, they're all welcome in my tanks.

Re: Keeping a subwassertang with snails
You could consider ordering Subwassertang from Tropica instead, specifically the Monoselenium tenerum in a 12grow pot - it's lab-grown, guaranteed to be free from algae, snails, and pests.

Re: Keeping a subwassertang with snails
I think it's a tough spot you're in - anything that gets rid of snails is probably gonna put your shrimp at risk too. It's a bit of a tricky situation, isn't it?

Re: Growing and overcoming barriers
I think it's a fungal growth, not exactly the prettiest thing to look at. I've had experience with it before and otos, nerite snails, tiger barbs and even shrimp will feed on it. Alternatively, you can remove it manually with a toothbrush, followed by a large water change to get rid of any remaining ...
