Amazon Swords are solid, but they need heavy root feeding. If your substrate's sand, you'll need root tabs for sure.

I've got a similar setup but with cheaper pumps. Does the rock arrangement really make that much difference? My flow seems fine, but my corals aren't growing as fast as I'd like.


It's not just about flow, rustix. Lighting and water quality play a huge role too. What's your PAR like at the coral ...

400 watts is a significant jump for a 27" deep tank. That's likely the culprit behind the bleached area on your WWC Flaming Phoenix chalice. Given the circumstances, I'd recommend placing it towards the bottom with some indirect lighting to minimize stress.
