Re: Sick elegance coral care and advice

I think chloramphenicol's the one I've come across most often.

http://www.reefs.org/library/aquarium_net/996/996_1.html

Reading through this, it's a solid resource. E-coral's listed as one that can handle a fresh water dip, which is helpful to know. I'll need to look into the meds mentioned in ...

Gonna have to do some more research, I haven't come across this info before.

Re: Sick elegance coral care and advice

Honestly, I think it's got that common elegance coral illness. You know, the one where the tentacles shrink and stop waving for food? The coral disk gets all swollen and transparent too. From what I've seen, there's no real cure - just ways to slow it down. I had a great e-coral that did amazing for ...

Re: Compatibility guidance

I think it might work out. The manderin's already in the tank and the lion's only small, so the clown will likely outgrow it. The cleaner shrimp will be similar in size to the lion, but they'll probably just coexist. The cleaner shrimp will do its job, no problem.

Re: A discussion about sand

A discussion about sand

Hey,
I still have the sand from my freshwater tank that I'm planning to use in this 72 gallon setup. So here's the thing - I'm thinking of keeping the one inch base of play sand and adding some chopped coflake on top of it, then topping it off with fine sand from the Bahamas. Would the layers mix ...

Is marine velvet a problem?

I just checked on my maroon clown and I'm getting a bit worried - he's got this thin white lining around his pectoral fins, and a couple of tiny white spots on his forehead. I've had him in my 20 gallon tank for a while now, and it's been a couple months since I last added any new livestock. The ...
