Re: my tank rescape experience
If you can reach behind comfortably, consider getting some ceramic tile paint and give it a coat.

Re: my tank rescape experience
If I were you, here's what I'd do - move that thermometer to a side, out of the way. I'm not a fan of seeing equipment in the tank, but if it's got to be there, let's hide it. I'd either reposition the heater so it's almost horizontal, just slightly raised at the gauge end, and tuck it behind the ...

Re: Is my clownfish depressed?
Considering your clownfish were already attached to the deceased pygmy, it's likely due to their natural preference for pairing up. This probably led to the bond they formed with the cherub angel fish, as it was a social companion for them.
Replacing the pygmy with a similar fish isn't a guaranteed ...

Re: Is my clownfish depressed?
I think having another clownfish in the tank would be a good idea, so you've got a pair. The loss of a similar sized tankmate might've had an effect, but it's unlikely to be depression due to them being different species. I'd say it's more stress, but having a pair of clownfish will show you their ...

Re: Zoanthids growing in unusual patterns
They resemble RPE from Indo, I'd say they're a nice zoa, that green mouth does give it a bit of a PE vibe though.
I think I see what you guys mean about the Palythoa possibility, but I'm still not entirely convinced - the green mouth does seem similar to a People Eater, but I don't see any of ...

Re: Are ocellated soapfish reef safe?
I'm inclined to think they could be a threat to shrimp and crabs, given their reputation as an uber-predator that will try to eat anything that fits in their mouth. With a max size of 5", that's most inverts right there. They're also known to release poisonous toxins when stressed or dying, which is ...

Re: from filtration to stock
I'd suggest limiting your lighting to 6-7 hours a day max, that might help with the green glass issue. In terms of your Fluval 305, I'd recommend swapping out the carbon bags for more ceramic and a coarse sponge - that'll give you better filtration.

Re: My zoas won't open up
More flow, I've come to realize zoas need a lot of it, much more than I initially thought, in most cases at least.
