Re: Best water conditioner for Betta tanks
Prime is my go-to because it detoxifies ammonia and nitrites, which is huge if you're cycling a new tank. But if you're just looking for something to dechlorinate, Stress Coat or AquaSafe are fine. What's your tap water like? Hard, soft?

Re: why my discus looks pale?
Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. I'll try dimming the lights and upping the water changes. Feeding beef heart daily now, gonna see if that helps.

why my discus looks pale?
My discus has been looking pale for the past few days. Water params are good, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, nitrate around 10 ppm. Tank is 75 gallons, temp at 86°F, running a Fluval FX6. They're eating but not as aggressively as usual. Any ideas?

Re: discus breeding water parameters
Don't overlook tankmates. My pair stopped spawning when I added tetras. Removed 'em, and bam—eggs within a week. Tank's a 50g, temp 85°F, pH 6.2, TDS 90. Bare bottom, sponge filter, and a single piece of driftwood. I feed a mix of frozen foods and pellets, with garlic guard twice a week. Lighting's ...

Re: discus tank substrate pros cons
Anyone tried bare bottom? I'm lazy with maintenance, and my 55-gallon's got just a sponge filter. Fish seem fine, but it's kinda ugly. Temp's steady at 83°F, feed them frozen bloodworms twice a day.
Bare bottom's a no-go for me. Had a pair stop breeding until I added sand. Now they're back to ...

Re: anubias care in high ph
I've had Anubias in pH 8.4 for years. They're chill but won't grow fast. Key is keeping the rhizome above the substrate and avoiding direct light. What's your water change routine? Frequent changes help with nutrient balance.
