Re: Choosing the right tankmates for dwarf gouramis
I've got two male dwarf gouramis in a 20-gallon community tank, and they're doing alright. The slightly bigger one gets a bit testy at feeding time, which isn't a surprise. I've also got another 20-gallon tank that's currently empty, but I'm planning to stock it with some algae eaters and a couple ...

Re: Choosing the right tankmates for dwarf gouramis
I can vouch for this. My 29g tank was a disaster with a single dwarf gourami. It started with just him, 6 cories, and a dozen neons. But within a week, everyone was running for cover. The gourami would patrol the entire tank, bullying everyone for food and territory. I thought plants and decorations ...

Re: Caring for mystery snails
I came across this tip that adding crushed eggshells to the tank can provide the necessary minerals for the snails' shell growth, I'm pretty sure it was from a video or a forum post somewhere.

Re: help finding a name for my betta
Honestly, no idea why, but Thanos just popped into my head - not a huge fan of the movies or comics, but that's the name that came to mind.

Dojo loaches information and care
Hi everyone, I'm hoping you can help me out with some conflicting info I've been getting about dojo loaches. I'm thinking of getting just one and I've got a few questions to clear things up.
First off, do dojo loaches need to be in groups or is one okay on its own?
I've also got a 13g tank (24 x ...

Re: Why java fern thrives in one tank but not others
The joys of fishkeeping - a hobby that starts innocently enough, with the simple goal of creating a peaceful aquarium, and yet somehow morphs into a full-blown obsession. Before you know it, you're juggling multiple tanks, and suddenly you're an expert in water chemistry, aquatic life, and plant care.

Re: Why java fern thrives in one tank but not others
I've had similar issues with a couple of shoots, I think it might be due to the rhizome getting damaged when I split them. What type of fertilizer are you using, and do you have fish in any or all of your tanks?
I took another look at the pics and I think some shoots are just naturally stronger ...

Re: Cory's sitting at the bottom of the tank
I've got 4 cories in my tank and they often do their own thing, sometimes all bunched up, other times spaced out. Feeding time's when they get active, swim around, grab a bite, then settle back in. Occasionally they'll surface for air, do a few laps, then head back to their favorite spots - and that ...
