Just don't go over 86F for more than a day or two. Higher temps can mess with their oxygen uptake. What's your current feeding schedule?

If they're getting aggressive, it's best to separate them temporarily. I've seen pairs chill out after a break. Keep the male in the main tank and move the female to a 20-gallon with similar params. Feed them bloodworms and beef heart to reduce stress.


Agreed. Also, check ammonia and nitrites ...

7 dKH isn't terrible, but raising it should help. Keep an eye on it for the next few weeks. Growth might take a bit to kick in.

I've had similar issues before. What's your alk sitting at? If it's below 8 dKH, that could be the culprit. Also, how often are you feeding? They might need more nutrients to grow those branches.

Been there, done that! I moved my 40 gallon last year. The key is to keep 'em in their original tank water as much as possible. Use battery operated air pumps for oxygen during the trip. How long's your drive gonna be?


Yep, battery pumps are a lifesaver. I also double bagged mine just in case ...
