I'd estimate around 3 litres, give or take, depending on how thick you want the layer to be. In my own setup, a 180-litre tank, I used 3.5 litres but only applied it to specific areas where I was planting.

I agree with the previous comments. Not all plants will benefit from a nutrient-rich substrate. For instance, stem plants tend to get most of their nutrients from the water column, while epiphyte plants also don't derive much benefit from the substrate. On the other hand, root-heavy plants like ...
