Re: feeding baby apistogramma: food suggestions
What if I've never seen the babies in a nest, they've always just been loose in the tank? And mom doesn't seem to be doing much of anything with them.

Re: feeding baby apistogramma: food suggestions
I'm thinking of moving the little ones to their own tank and bringing daddy back home - when's a good time for that? A month or so, maybe a week after that?

Re: feeding baby apistogramma: food suggestions
They're growing, albeit slowly. Mom's still pretty meh about them, doesn't seem to care too much.

Re: feeding baby apistogramma: food suggestions
Dad's probably in the clear unless the tank is ridiculously small.
You mentioned egg yolk, but honestly, it's not the best idea - it can really mess with your water quality. For a more suitable alternative, you could look into decapsulated brine shrimp eggs or Golden Pearls - both are great ...

Re: feeding baby apistogramma: food suggestions
So it's been a week and a half since the little ones hatched, and I'm wondering how fast they usually grow. I've got no basis for comparison, so I'm kind of flying blind here.

Re: feeding baby apistogramma: food suggestions
I'm looking into the golden pearls, what micron size would be best for my little apisto fry?

feeding baby apistogramma: food suggestions
Just got back from a weekend trip and walked into a lovely surprise - 7 adorable baby apisto fry. Removed the dad to prevent any, ahem, "snacks".
Quick internet search says live baby brine shrimp are the way to go, but that's not happening anytime soon, so I'm on the hunt for alternatives.

Re: Finding suitable tank mates for a male betta
I had a similar experience with my betta and a nerite snail. At first, he was quite aggressive towards the nerite, attempting to attack it on multiple occasions. However, after realizing that his usual tactics weren't effective, he eventually lost interest. I recall being amused by his frustration ...

Re: breeding nerite snails: tips and advice
Just a quick update - saw some piggybacking going on in the tank, but I'm not entirely convinced it's the romantic kind, might just be a snail Uber service. Still waiting for those eggs though, nothing on that front yet.
