Before you go ripping out substrate, test your tap water after letting it sit out for 24 hours. Sometimes dissolved CO2 in fresh tap water can throw off pH readings. If it's still high, then yeah, Stratum's toast.

Yeah, Stratum usually keeps pH lower, like 6.5–6.8. You sure your test kit's fresh? Old reagents can give sketchy readings. I'd double-check with a different brand or take a sample to your LFS. Also, what's your lighting schedule? High light can mess with CO2 levels, which affects pH.

it had a similar shape, but the one i saw was pink with yellow markings around the gill area

I stopped by my LFS today and came across this pink fish that looked kinda like a chromis - does anyone know what it is?

Frogspawn coral with large bubbles
I've had this for around a year now. Started with 2 small heads, now I've got around 8-10. One of them's got this huge bubble next to its mouth, been like that for weeks. It deflates a bit at night when the heads retract, but it never goes away. Never seen a frogspawn like this before. Some of the ...
