Just as a heads up for your planning, I had an experience with a tiny yellow spotted boxfish - it was literally less than 1cm square. What an adorable little fellow it was. Unfortunately, disaster struck when I came home one day to find it had been sucked onto one of my powerheads.
If you do ...

Re: damselfish discussion
I've had three humbugs in my 50-gallon tank, and they've been fine, no major issues. The largest one does chase the others every now and then, but it's nothing too serious. I also had a tiny baby boxfish, about 1cm cubed, and after the humbugs checked him out, they gave him a few tail swats, but ...

Re: Light adaptation period for lps corals
Something's not right in your tank if every LPS starts strong then withers after a few days. Nitrate levels seem high to me. What's the status on salinity, calcium, alkalinity, and magnesium?

is my common clown actually braindead?
Just got two tiny clowns for my 250L reef tank and they're absolutely brilliant.
However, the larger one's been swimming in figure of eights over the front glass all day, constantly touching it - is that normal or is something off?
Thanks.

Re: Setting up a new lps tank: advice needed
I'm planning on replacing my 180 with another 180 or something close. I've typically ran SPS tanks but the wife is pushing me to try a LPS tank. I've got some experience with SPS, but I want to make sure I set up the LPS tank right.

Re: Optimizing coral placement in your aquarium
I personally use a small spoon or a dull knife to gently pry it off, if my fingers aren't enough to get it off the plug.
I'm with you on popping them off with a knife, just be careful. For stonies, get the knife under and twist, it'll come right off. Zoas are a bit different, I just scrape them ...

Re: Optimizing coral placement in your aquarium
I'm not a fan of the plug look, so I usually remove them right away and glue the frag to some rock rubble. This way, you can place it wherever you want to find that perfect spot. I've done this a bunch of times, and it's really not that hard - I've never lost a frag yet. I use that crazy glue gel ...

Re: Help with shriveling hammer corals
I'm a bit concerned about your calcium levels, 380 is on the lower side. What's your current alkalinity and magnesium looking like? And to be honest, 400 is still a bit low for my liking. What method are you using to boost it back up?

Re: Australian elegance coral
I'd recommend giving it some bigger food too, like silverside or krill - elegance corals can handle surprisingly large chunks of food.
