I've found that keeping the water super clean helps prevent disease. Weekly 25% water changes and a good gravel vacuum routine make a big difference.

One more thing, if you're using CO2, keep it low. Neon tetras can get stressed with high CO2 levels. I keep mine at around 15 ppm.

I've kept Neon tetras for years. They do best in groups of at least six. Make sure your filter flow isn't too strong, they prefer calm water. Also, dim lighting brings out their colors more.

Amino acids are key, but don't overlook phytoplankton. I dose live phyto weekly, and my Acans have never looked better. What's your flow like? Too much can stress them during feeding.
