True that. My tap's pretty hard, so they're chillin'. If your water's soft, maybe toss in a piece of cuttlebone.

Re: plants that don't need much care

I skip ferts most of the time. My Anubias gets by on fish waste and whatever's in the tap water. If you wanna push growth, a lil' liquid fert once a month won't hurt.

Re: plants that don't need much care

Yep, Anubias is a champ. I've got mine in a shady corner of my 20-gallon, no ferts, and it's still kickin'. Also, try Hornwort, it's basically unkillable.

Re: Best calcium dosing for SPS corals

My SPS were fading until I bumped my Ca to 450. I dose Brightwell Aquatics daily, 5ml at a time. My tank's a 60-cube with T5s, and I run a refugium. Maybe try smaller, more frequent doses? Big swings mess with the vibe.

Re: Resolving female kribensis aggression

If that male Krib becomes the chosen one, I'd strongly consider rehoming the smaller female - things could get ugly fast. Bonded pairs can turn on others, and I recall a thread here about a pair of oscars taking out a third fish.

I think introducing another male could be a good idea - they ...

Re: Help, i'm new and need guidance

Sounds good with the Java Fern setup. If you've got API root tabs, placing one halfway into the substrate should be fine, especially since they're grouped together. One tab covers a decent area, about 30 inches, so you don't need to overdo it. Too many root tabs can be problematic if they get pulled ...

Re: Help, i'm new and need guidance

Assuming you just planted them today, give them some time to settle in - it's probably too early to tell if they're dead or not. Someone with more experience might chime in, but I'd just keep an eye on them for now.

Re: Help, i'm new and need guidance

Looks like you've got the Java Fern in the substrate, not ideal. You'll want to tie the stem the leaves grow from to something instead. Root tabs will definitely help, and yeah, the plants do need some light. Don't overdo it though, or you'll likely end up with an algae bloom. Eight to ten hours a ...

Re: help, my betta is sick

Treating fin tank issues can be tricky. Medications often coat the labyrinth organ, which is a big no-no for betta fish as it can lead to death. And to be honest, there's no real "cure" for swim bladder disease - feeding peas is about the best you can do, which you've already tried. I provided a ...
