Re: is discus tank too warm?
I've seen discus handle 85°F, but only short-term. Long-term, it's risky. What's your water change routine? More frequent changes can help stabilize temps.

Re: best discus tank cleaning tools
For algae, a good quality scraper with a long handle is key. I've had success with the Flipper cleaner. It's gentle on the glass and reaches tight spots. Also, consider reducing light duration if algae is a persistent issue. My discus are less stressed when I clean during their feeding time, as they ...

Re: why is discus tank always murky?
How's your lighting? Too much light can cause algae blooms, which might look like cloudiness. I keep my lights on for 6 hours max and use a timer to avoid overdoing it.

Re: discus tank substrate pros cons
Sand's easier to clean than folks think. Just hover the siphon an inch above it during water changes. My 75-gallon's got a thin layer, temp's 82°F, and I feed a homemade beef heart mix. Tankmates are just a school of Rummy Nose.

Re: discus bullying in small groups
Had the same issue with my group. One dude was a straight-up bully. I moved him to a quarantine tank for a week, and when I put him back, he chilled out. Weird, but it worked. Tank's got sand substrate and a canister filter, if that matters.
That's interesting. I've heard temporary separation ...

Re: ideal temp for discus comfort
Thanks for the tips. Mine are around 4 inches, not sure on age. Got them from a local breeder 3 months ago. I do 30% water changes weekly, but might up it if that's not enough. Heater's got a 0.5°F variance, so it's pretty steady.
At 4 inches, they're likely 6–8 months old. Up the changes to 50 ...

Re: ideal temp for discus comfort
84°F is a solid starting point, but discus can thrive in a range. I keep mine at 82–86°F depending on their mood. Got a 120 gallon with CO2 injection, planted with Amazon swords. They're more active at higher temps but watch for stress if you crank it up too fast. What's your water change routine ...

110g High
interested in hearing from others with a 110g tank - how's your current stocking looking? my 90g front tank went out last March, so i made the jump to a 110g and i'm still looking for others who run this size tank.
