Re: discus breeding tank setup cost
Man, this sounds pricey. Could I just use a sponge filter and call it a day? My Discus are chill in the community tank, but I wanna try breeding 'em without breaking the bank.

Re: is discus tank too crowded?
Yeah, if you're married to the 75, maybe drop to 6 Discus. They'll thank you for it. Less stress, better colors. Plus, your filter won't have to work overtime.

Re: is discus tank too crowded?
Dude, that sounds tight. I ran a similar setup once and my Discus got mad stressed. They started hiding behind the driftwood all day. Maybe cut it back to 6 Discus? Tetras and Corys are chill but they add up.

Re: discus tank water change myths
My buddy swears by 'no water changes, just plants.' His 90g's a jungle with Discus, but nitrates sit at 40+. Sketchy or nah?

Re: discus tank algae control methods
Dude, blackout for a couple days. Cover the tank, no light at all. It's sketchy but works. Just keep an eye on the fish and do a big water change after. Also, check your phosphate levels, they're sneaky algae boosters.

Re: Help with a struggling 125-gallon planted tank
It's likely you're dealing with Blue Green Algae, also known as Cyanobacter bacteria - it's a photosynthetic bacteria that thrives on nutrients, low oxygen levels and red light. The high nitrates, fertiliser and CO2 in your tank are essentially fuelling its growth.
To tackle this issue, you'll ...

Re: Help with a struggling 125-gallon planted tank
I've been dealing with this tank for months now, and I just can't seem to get it right. I've got a solid setup - fluval stratum, 2 fluval 3.0 lights, an fx6 filter, and pressurized co2. I switched from thrive all in 1 to GLA dry ferts a couple weeks ago, but nothing's changed. My stock is pretty ...

Help with a struggling 125-gallon planted tank
I'm at my wit's end here. I set up this tank last winter and nothing seems to be going right. Got all the right gear - fluval stratum substrate, two fluval 3.0 lights, an fx6 filter, and pressurized co2. Switched from thrive all in 1 fertilizer to GLA dry ferts a couple weeks ago, but no luck ...

Why are you so sure salt is a must in aquariums? I've been keeping fish for decades and only add it when my fish are sick.
