Not weird at all. Bettas are smart. Mine flares at me if I stare too long. He's in a 10 gallon with lots of plants, so he's got plenty of hiding spots. Maybe yours just needs to feel secure.

I've tried flakes, pellets, and frozen. Pellets are the easiest to portion. Mine's in a 7 gallon with a hang-on-back filter, and I feed him 3-4 pellets twice a day. He's never had bloating issues.

It's weird, they've never bothered my other plants before, but I guess they just love Nymphoides Hydrophylla Taiwan. I did some research and others have had the same issue with this specific plant. I've only been feeding them once a day, so I'll try feeding them more often, thanks for the tip, coltin.

Just planted a 1-2 grow pot of Nymphoides Hydrophylla Taiwan yesterday and this morning I was shocked to see the leaves badly damaged. I'm assuming the fertilizer dosage is dependent on the types of plants I've got in the tank, just trying to figure out what works best for the long haul and keeping them healthy.
