They're hiding in the rocks now. Should I get the male before they lay the eggs or after?

I just got two jewel cichlids, and they both look pregnant. Since I have slate in the tank, will the eggs still develop without fertilization? Should I introduce a male to the tank, or can I keep them alone? I'm really concerned, HELP.

I'm gonna take out the red zebra today at Petco. So what type of cichlids would be good to add with my opaline gourami and jewel cichlids? Should I stick with South Americans or can I mix with others?

My water stats are good - very hard, ph 7.8, and nitrates and nitrites are in the safe zone. Quality-wise, all is well. Tank size is 26 inches long, 14 deep, and 17 high. All is good now, just the fire mouth is my issue, otherwise aggression among the others has decreased.

I'm really unsure now, should I get rid of the fire mouth or maybe one of the jewels, or even the zebra? I don't know if I should rehome just one or a few of them.

That's a bummer, I'll rehome the jewels. What about the strawberry peacocks or labs, can they coexist in a 25 gallon with other fish?
