Yeah, keep us posted. These guys can be weirdly specific about their preferences.

Re: Blastomussa wellsi feeding needs
Mine's been thriving on Reef Roids. I mix it with tank water and broadcast feed once a week. Got a 50-gallon cube with a Nero 5 wavemaker, and the flow's just enough to keep 'em happy without blasting them.

Re: Discus tank biofilm concerns
Oh, and if you're using any oils or supplements, they can cause film too. Double-check your water conditioner.

Re: Discus tank biofilm concerns
I had the same issue in my 100 gallon. Added an air stone near the filter return, and it cleared up in a few days. Are you using any surface skimmers? They help a ton with this.

Re: Discus tank decor safety tips
If you're using rocks, do the vinegar test. If it fizzes, don't use it. My Discus love the caves I made from stacked slate, but I sanded every edge smooth. Also, avoid anything with small holes where they could get stuck.

Re: why is discus tank ph dropping?
Thanks, everyone. I only soaked the driftwood for 2 days, guess that wasn't enough. Fish seem okay but a bit less active. KH is at 2, so that's probably the culprit. Gonna try mixing in tap water and adding coral. Appreciate the help!

why is discus tank ph dropping?
My Discus tank pH keeps dropping from 7.0 to 6.0 within a day. I've got a 75-gallon tank with 6 adults, sand substrate, and driftwood. Weekly 50% water changes with RO water, temp at 84°F. Filter is a Fluval FX4, no CO2. Tankmates are 10 Cardinals and 6 Corydoras. Feeding twice daily with frozen ...

Re: discus breeding pair not spawning
Sounds like your water params are solid. Have you checked the male's behavior? Sometimes they need a bit more time to get comfortable. Also, try upping the water changes to 30% daily, it can trigger spawning. What's your lighting schedule like?

Re: best plants for discus aquariums
Amazon Swords are a solid pick. They're hardy and don't need CO2. I've got them in my 100-gallon with Discus, same temp as yours. They grow slow but steady under moderate light. Just watch for iron deficiency, it'll yellow the leaves.

Re: discus breeding water parameters
Has anyone tried lowering the pH further? Mine spawned at pH 6.0, temp 85°F, TDS 80. Tank's a 75g with a sump, bare bottom, and driftwood. I feed a mix of frozen bloodworms and pellets. Lighting's on for 8 hours with a 1-hour dim period. Also, make sure your water changes are same temp—shocks can ...
