Re: why my discus has white poop?

White poop in discus is often a sign of internal parasites like hexamita or spironucleus. Have you noticed any other symptoms like loss of appetite, clamped fins, or weight loss? I'd recommend treating with Metroplex mixed into their food. Also, increase water changes to 50% daily for a week to ...

why my discus has white poop?

My discus has been pooping white stringy stuff for the past two days. Water params are good, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 10 nitrate. Tank is 75 gallons, temp at 84F, running a Fluval FX6. Been feeding them frozen bloodworms and beef heart mix twice a day. Anyone know what's up?

Re: Discus tank water flow guide

My Discus were acting weird too, turns out the flow was too strong. I just stuck a piece of filter sponge over the output, and it worked like a charm. Cheap fix!

Re: why is discus tank always murky?

Weird vibe, but have you checked your tap water? Sometimes the stuff coming outta the faucet is cloudy to begin with. Maybe try using a different water source or a better conditioner.

Re: Discus water hardness explained

My tap's similar to yours, paddlepop. I just add a bit of peat to my filter to soften it slightly. Fish are thriving, no RO needed. Tank's planted with Amazon swords and vals, which seem to help buffer things. How often do you test your water? I check weekly with the API kit.

Dwarf Hairgrass is the way to go. It's like the lawn of the aquarium world. Just don't let it get too wild.

Haha, fair point. But hey, function over form sometimes, right? Especially with juveniles.

Re: bare bottom vs planted discus tank

I've tried both, and honestly, it depends on how much time you wanna spend cleaning. Bare bottom is quicker, but planted is more rewarding. My 50-gallon planted tank has Discus, Cardinals, and some Corys. It's a bit more work, but worth it for the vibe.

Re: How long have you been without power?

I've been pretty fortunate, only lost power for a brief 5 minutes in the past 5 years. No generator or backup systems here.

I live right next to the National Guard and Military airport, so I guess that's a plus when it comes to power reliability. I've ...
