Danios are the best starter fish, no cap. They'll tolerate beginner mistakes but still look awesome. Just don't crank the heat too high, and they'll be golden.

You're in for a challenge with those two. Jewel cichlids are notorious for being super aggressive, I had one in a community tank once and it was a disaster. I ended up having to keep her alone, couldn't keep her with any other fish, she'd attack everything.

I know, right. They just seem to love getting down to business. It's definitely a good sign, means they're feeling pretty content.

raising mbuna babies

Just got over the loss of my Jack Dempsey spawn and I'm thrilled to share that I've got at least 6 healthy Mbuna fry swimming around. Still unsure if they're Yellow Lab or Blue Zebra, will post pics soon.

The park I went to had a ton of loose rock from all the hill blasting they did for the roads - most of it's the same type, I just didn't grab as much as I needed when I was there.

I really appreciate all the feedback on my tank. It's been a work in progress for ages - over a year now. I collected most of the rocks myself, but I didn't have enough, hence the mix. The artificial ones are just a temporary fix until I can get some more on my next park trip. The thermometer was ...

Just finished redoing my malawi tank and I'm a bit more pleased with it, but still not quite there with that natural look I'm after.

Glad my fish decided to make an appearance for the photos though.
