Re: my cichlids seem dull, what can i do?

I'm guessing you're using the old filter or at least the media from it. No offense if this is a no-brainer, but lethargy can be a sign of issues in the tank. Maybe they're going through a mini cycle - I went through this when I upgraded. Big water changes seemed to perk everyone up.

Re: A moody cow in my krib, how can i help it?

The 200l is 100 x 40 x 55 cm, really packed with plants and bogwood - it's a lovely environment, just not for my feisty krib, it seems. The 125l is 80 x 35 x 45, and it came with a 3D background that I'm planning to build on to create a more rocky setup.

The danios are indeed zebras - lovely ...

Re: A moody cow in my krib, how can i help it?

Empty 125 tank, just her for now.

I've got a few other tanks going on, so thought I'd give you the lowdown on the inhabitants - my 200l has a mix of danios, cardinal tetras, peppered cories, dwarf gourami, a baby bristlenose (new addition today), and platies. Then there's the 65l with neptunes ...

Re: A moody cow in my krib, how can i help it?

I made a bit of an impulsive decision and added a female krib to my 200l tank - I'm not proud of it, but I took the advice of the woman at the fish store. She assured me that a single female would be fine in a community tank and wouldn't be aggressive without a mate. I was aware that kribs might ...

Re: A moody cow in my krib, how can i help it?

She's now got her own pad, and I'm wondering if there's anyone I can safely introduce to her. I'm guessing tetras might be alright, but I'm not sure - are they too small for her to bother with, or would she still have a go?

Re: A moody cow in my krib, how can i help it?

It's official, she's getting the boot. We turned the lights off and she completely lost it, going after everyone in the tank. That's it, I've had enough - she's being rehomed.

Re: A moody cow in my krib, how can i help it?

The fish shop lady told me kribs are great for snail control - they had one in each tank and it seemed like a more elegant solution than getting assassins. We'd seen kribs before and initially wanted a pair for our tank, but knowing they could be territorial put us off. Still, I let the shop lady's ...

Re: A moody cow in my krib, how can i help it?

I've definitely learned a valuable lesson about not buying fish on impulse to fix tank issues. And as for getting a male Krib, I think I'll have to pass - I'm not exactly eager to breed them or deal with the potential aggression that comes with it, plus the thought of all those baby kribs is a bit ...

Re: Best Plants for a Betta Tank

One more thing, if you go with Cryptocoryne, don't freak out if the leaves melt at first. It's normal when they adjust to new water. Just trim the dead bits and it'll bounce back.
