Re: Are betta fish safe to feed boiled eggs?

Thanks for all your input, I really appreciate it. I decided to hold off on the egg for now, but I'm glad I know how to do it properly if I decide to give it a try in the future.

What about other home treats, like fruits or veggies - are there any you've had success with?

Re: Are betta fish safe to feed boiled eggs?

It's likely fine for your betta, but it'll mess up your water quality in no time. That, in turn, can harm your fish. Live bloodworms could be a better treat option, don't you think?

That's actually a better idea. He gets frozen every Friday, but a live treat could be a nice change of pace ...

Re: Are betta fish safe to feed boiled eggs?

I was thinking of just a tiny bit, roughly the size of a couple pellets, since Hank's got a small mouth. Maybe I'll just spot feed him and make sure it doesn't get into the water. His tank is due for a change today anyway, so I can just change it afterwards.

The yolk does have fat and cholesterol ...

Are betta fish safe to feed boiled eggs?

I was thinking of giving my betta, Hank, a special treat today - a tiny bit of boiled egg. However, someone raised a concern that it might not be the best idea. I tried searching online, but all I found were results about betta fry, so I'm hoping our experienced betta keepers here can offer some ...

Is a suction leaf or floating log more suitable?

I'm heading out to grab a rose bush for Mother's Day and thought I'd swing by my LPS to pick up something for Hank. Considering the resting leaves with suction cups and the floating logs, which do you think he'd like best? He's a laid-back betta, always exploring and swimming around with curiosity.

Re: first time breeding issues with male betta not creating bubble nest

Hi, I'm still pretty new to this so I'm not entirely sure I'm on the right track here. I did a bit of digging and came across a site that mentioned betta breeding is usually most successful when they're young, roughly between 4-12 months with 14 being the max. Water quality and environment are ...

Re: Found my salvinia in the wild, a rare aquatic plant discovery

I'd recommend putting it in your tank, it's a better setup for it. If you can, place it on the opposite side from your filter, unless you have a sponge filter. I've found that mine do really well with plenty of light, and I've never needed to use fertilizers.

I'm actually looking forward to ...

Re: Found my salvinia in the wild, a rare aquatic plant discovery

Considering you've got the other plants in a tank, it might be better to put the salvinia in there too. That way, you can just set the light on a timer and not have to worry about it while you're away camping.

I'll definitely look into getting a timer set up soon, probably before my next trip ...

Re: Found my salvinia in the wild, a rare aquatic plant discovery

I'm not too keen on putting it in my tank while I'm away, considering we got it from a pretty shady seller and I don't want to come home to a pest infestation. No timer for my lights, so it'd be stuck in the dark. Would adding more tank water help?

Found my salvinia in the wild, a rare aquatic plant discovery

My other plants showed up a couple days ago, except they decided to visit my neighbor first. We finally found the salvinia today and it's looking a bit rough from its 4+ day box vacation. I've set it up in a 2-gallon container with a mix of 4 parts tap water (no chlorine) and 1 part tank water, and ...
