You could fill the hole with some decorative rocks, or even just some extra gravel, that way it's still a cozy little spot for your Betta but less likely to cause any issues.

I'm a big fan of hygrophila, it's really easy to grow and does well in low to medium light, which sounds perfect for your tank.

I've reduced the lighting hours to combat the algae issue and I'm using a hood light, but I'm not sure of its wattage. I've switched to Thrive all-in-one fertilizer. I'm still puzzled as to why some Anacharis stems are growing thick, while others aren't. Do you think they appear thin to you? I'm ...

is my anacharis too thin?

I've recently added some new anarcharis to my tank and it's been growing really fast, but I've noticed some of it isn't as bushy and thick as the rest.

Like you can see in the picture, some pieces are nice and full, while others aren't. I've been dosing the tank with fertilizer, so I'm not sure ...

I've got experience with both plastic and live plants in my tanks, and honestly, each has its own set of advantages and disadvantages.

I learned that the hard way too, oldraider. I think I would've had an easier time catching those Red Eye Tetras if I left the net in the tank for a bit. You know, let them get used to it, not be so scared of it. That way, they'd be more likely to swim right in when you're trying to catch 'em.
