Re: troubleshooting my planted aquarium issues
Honestly, I don't think CO2 is necessary in this case. If your light and fertilizer are on point, that's usually the main thing that matters.

Re: troubleshooting my planted aquarium issues
I'm no expert, but my Zorchzon sword is thriving. I've got a pretty deep substrate, at least 3 inches, and I'm using a bunch of root tabs. I also dose with Aquarium Co Op fertilizer every week. Assuming your lighting is on point, maybe it's just a case of bad luck with the plants. Sometimes you just ...

Re: is my betta's fin a cause for concern?
To further assess the situation, could you please share your tank's current readings, particularly the Ammonia levels? I'd recommend trying daily water changes for a week or two and adding some aquarium salt, as this has shown to be beneficial in similar cases.

Re: fin rot or injury: what's the difference?
Your betta looks great, and I'm not too concerned about fin rot at this point. The water quality seems excellent, which is a big plus. I'm wondering, though, if there's anything in the tank with sharp edges that could be causing the fin damage. Maybe check the plants or decorations to see if ...

Re: help, my betta has been inactive for 2 days
I've had bettas before, and to be honest, they seem to do better on their own. I think the transition might have been a bit too much for him, and he's just taking some time to adjust. Give it a couple of days, and he might perk up. In the meantime, regular water changes and a good cleaning of the ...

Re: choosing suitable tank mates for a small aquarium
In my opinion, snails and shrimp are the safest bet. While bettas can get along with kuhli loaches, kuhlis are group fish that thrive in larger tanks, so I'd recommend at least a 20G long for them.

Re: Is my fish developing fin rot?
Your betta is lovely, by the way. I'd strongly advise investing in an API Master Test kit to monitor your water parameters closely. Regular testing for Ammonia and Nitrite is crucial, and I'd recommend doing a substantial water change whenever these levels exceed zero. In terms of tank decor, I ...

Re: Achieving stable water conditions in small aquariums
My 10-gallon was a nightmare to keep stable when it was unplanted. Upgrading to my 38-gallon was a game-changer. Recently, I busted out the 10-gallon again - about 6 months ago - for my electric blue Jack Dempsey. Poor guy got beat up in the 75-gallon, so I set up the smaller tank as a recovery ...

Re: Achieving stable water conditions in small aquariums
For smaller tanks, I'm curious, do you guys keep them solo or is it okay to add some tankmates?

Re: Achieving stable water conditions in small aquariums
Lovely setup you've got there. I've always been drawn to Jack Dempseys, but figured they needed a lot of space to thrive. I'm guessing your electric blue Jack Dempsey will eventually outgrow this tank and need a bigger home, right?
