Re: encouraging growth in Acropora
Have you tested your potassium levels? Low potassium can cause Acros to stall. I aim for 380-400 ppm. Also, make sure your T5 bulbs aren't too old. They lose intensity after about 9-12 months.

Re: encouraging growth in Acropora
Lighting duration might be too short. I run my Radions for 10 hours with a gradual ramp-up. Acros need that extended peak period to photosynthesize efficiently.

Re: Which plants are safe from cichlids?
Thanks everyone for the advice. I'm still relatively new to live plants, but I've really grown to appreciate their aesthetic and the role they play in maintaining a clean tank. I've since added them to a couple more tanks, and I have to say, it's been a great addition. The African tank is almost ...

Which plants are safe from cichlids?
I've had great success with easy care live plants in two of my tanks, and I'm eager to add them to my upcoming African cichlid tank as well as my existing South American cichlid tank. I've tried introducing Anubias and Java fern to the South American tank, but unfortunately, they get devoured by the ...

James, your info on crossbreeding is spot on, but to be honest, I'm not ...

long stocking options for 125 gallons
We've been running a South American cichlid tank for a while now, and we're looking to add an African cichlid setup to our collection. I'd appreciate some feedback on my planned stocking for the new tank. We've already got the 125g long tank set up and cycling, so I'm eager to start introducing some ...

keeping eels and bichirs with cichlids
I've been feeling nostalgic for my old eels - I used to keep a tiretrack and a fire eel. But since I don't have an aggressive tank setup anymore, I haven't had the opportunity to keep eels for a while now.
