Honestly, I'm still pretty clueless about what I like, but I do know I love yellow labs, frontosas and buttikoferis - those are the only ones I'm familiar with, but the ones you mentioned are really stunning.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'm intrigued by the idea of a species-only setup - What species would you recommend for a single-species tank, considering my tank dimensions and water parameters?

I'm after fish with lots of color, and those that are interesting to watch. Yes, the tank measurements are in feet. I'm based in London, so my tap water's naturally quite high in pH, around 8.5, and it's very hard. I've found peat works well in my filters for my other fish, so I've been using that ...
