I'd say you're in the clear with Duncans. They pretty much just grow from their skeleton like frogspawn does, and they don't tend to drop off tiny bits that'll end up elsewhere in the tank like some other soft corals can.

I've had a similar issue in the past with rapid tissue loss, and in my case it was due to low alk levels. Once I stabilized the alk, the problem stopped immediately.
