Turns out you were right, they're indeed Rhabdocoela. Managed to catch over 15 so far.

Re: Creating an infusoria bucket for aquarium use

Just caught a couple more. First time doing pipette fishing, but it's kinda fun.

Edit - Threw a light on the bucket and managed to snag six more. Looks like my Infusoria bucket's got a bit of a problem on its hands.

Re: Creating an infusoria bucket for aquarium use

I had a similar sighting in my 60L a while back, but it was too quick for me to snap a photo. They were buried in the substrate back then. I reckon they must've hitched a ride over in the filter sponge, since that's where the culture originated.

Creating an infusoria bucket for aquarium use

Just pulled out some copepods for my fry from the 5L infusoria bucket culture and stumbled upon a few of these tiny critters swimming around. Any idea what they are and should I be worried about them affecting my copepod population in that bucket?

Re: Getting started with a walstad aquarium

I tried something similar with my 90L tank. For plants, I'd recommend going with fast growers like limnophilia, myriophyllum, or elodea - they're great for using up excess nutrients. I also used some floating plants and even threw in a few house plants to see how they'd do. For the substrate, I used ...

Re: Amano's arched bridge designs

Is its body colour normally arched like that or did that start a few weeks ago too? What did the other one that died look like in terms of its body colour?

If the muscle tissue is turning a milky white or cream colour, then I'm worried it might be a microsporidian infection. That would be a ...

Amano's arched bridge designs

I've had one of my smallest Amanos arching its back in my 60L for over two weeks now, and it hasn't gone back to normal. My Amanos in that tank are getting up there in age - over three years old. I'm wondering if this could be a sign of old age, especially since my largest one passed away a few days ...

Re: Recommended online resources for plant enthusiasts

Abyss is my local store in Stockport and I've found their plants to be decent quality, although they are a bit pricier than Pro Shrimp. I think their prices reflect the fact that they have a massive building with over 150 tanks and a large team of staff, which obviously comes with high running costs ...

Re: Can plants solve environmental problems?

Dwarf sagittaria and crypt parva are excellent choices - their roots provide a great environment for detritus worms, copepods, and ostracods to thrive. These little critters are the best mulm cleaners you can ask for. Any bottom dwellers that move the substrate around will also be a great help in ...
