Re: discus bullying in small groups
Yo, same thing happened to me. My bully fish was a jerk until I added some dither fish like tetras. Now he's too busy showing off to chase the others. Tank's got a black background and LED lights, which might help too.

Re: best filter for a discus aquarium
For a 75 gallon, I'd go with the Fluval 407 or Eheim Classic. Both are proven, and the flow can be adjusted. Just make sure you're doing regular water changes, no matter what filter you pick. My Discus are in a 90 gallon with a 407, and I do 50% changes weekly. They're growing fast, no health issues.

Re: can discus live with angelfish?
Sounds sketchy to me. Angels are kinda jerks sometimes, and Discus are too fancy to mess with. My buddy tried it, and his Angels nipped the Discus' fins. Tank was big enough, but the vibe was off. Maybe if you get super young Angels? Dunno, man.
Yeah, Angels can be hit or miss. I've seen it ...

Re: exploring creative aquascape ideas
I'm thinking a mesh bag full of aquatic soil under the sand could be a good way to create that slope in the back. It'd also help support the extra plants I'm planning to add.

Re: Choosing the right tankmates for dwarf gouramis
Gouramis are generally calm and peaceful, but those long feelers might just be too tempting for the comets to resist. I think they'll likely give the gourami some grief at first, nipping at those feelers. If the gourami is feisty enough to stand up for itself, I reckon they'll be okay. But if it's ...

Re: Choosing the right tankmates for dwarf gouramis
Keeping goldfish with a dwarf gourami means finding a temperature that works for both, since goldfish prefer cooler water. I've had experience with regular gouramis, and they don't get along with each other. My current three spot gourami is an exception, it's not aggressive and leaves my shy keyhole ...

Re: meeting dolphins in vanuatu with oscar?
I'm still not sold on earth eaters, so I'm thinking of alternatives. Threadfin acara could work, I think 1-3 of them might fit in with my Oscar.

Re: meeting dolphins in vanuatu with oscar?
I think clown loaches could be a good fit, but it really depends on your water parameters. They're pretty hardy and can stick up for themselves, but they're also schooling fish so you'd need a group. I'd say 6 or more would be a good number. They're also nocturnal, so you'd need some hiding places ...

Re: meeting dolphins in vanuatu with oscar?
I'm thinking a group of keyholes, not just a single one.
